Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine can be beneficial to treat a wide variety of imbalances. Herbs are often recommended during an acupuncture initial or follow-up visit, but those who don't wish to have acupuncture treatments can still benefit from Chinese herbal medicine.

Eliza Rowley, MSOM L.Ac., earned a Bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College and a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Her extensive clinical training included specialized rotations working in addiction recovery. She pursued additional training in Chinese language, herbal formulas and Qi Gong in the Sichuan region of China.

Eliza completed an intensive, two-year Clinical Integration course with visionary five-element acupuncturist Lonny Jarrett. She is currently enrolled in Graduate Mentorship Program continuing studies with another wise leader in East Asian Medicine, Sharon Weizenbaum.

Eliza believes in a practical approach to healing. She works with patients to make a plan that fits their life, and their readiness to make changes. Ultimately, it is our everyday habits, and conscious, educated choices which have the greatest impact on our health and happiness. When people learn how to make better life choices from a place of kindness and deep care for themselves, rather than by adhering to inflexible, perfectionistic rules, we make room for joy in our lives as we heal.

Eliza was born and raised in Washington DC, but left in 1998 to study alternative medicine. She has lived in Chicago, Denver, Santa Barbara, and Arlington Virginia, and returned to the Pacific Northwest permanently in 2018. She is currently licensed to practice in Oregon and California.

Eliza lives in Milwaukie with her son and two cats, is an avid hiker, backpacker, cinema buff, and a board member of the Satir Family Camp.
